Bienvenidos a Nepantlán

Nepantlán is a process and journey of spiritual self inquiry and discovery informed by indigenous traditions from Aztec-Mexica symbology and cosmology, ethnobotany, and espiritísmo. Nepántla is the Nahuatl word for a “state of in-betweenness” or liminal journeying. Tlán is the Nahuatl locative-suffix to denote: next to, among, or below. Nepantlán is an oracle and liminal space into which we journey to behold the insights just within our consciousness’ reach.

I hold a PhD in education with a focus on ethnography, socio-linguistics and literacy from the University of California Santa Barbara. I have over 33 years of experience as classroom teacher, tenured university professor, ethnobotanist, and artist. In addition, the bedrock for my life path was inspired by my greatest teacher, my grandmother, Doña Enrriqueta Delgado Talamantes Reyna Sepulveda de Bernal. She was a deeply studied curandera and espiritísta, who taught me the seeds of Nepantlán; an understanding that the physical world we inhabit and perceive is not all as it appears. She guided me to develop, my don or gift, for how to read the language of my internal universe as an emerging spirit to be developed as a key to engage with and unlock the larger universes around me.
